Over the last few years foreclosure and its distressing effects on the human psyche have been blamed for some unfortunate incidents and behaviors by homeowners. From the more recent bulldozing escapade by disgruntled owner Terry Hoskins to more bleak reports of suicide, foreclosures seem to have been pegged at the root of the problem.

Recently within the media there were a couple articles reporting on the increase in foreclosures in San Diego County. While all the articles stated that foreclosure flings in San Diego had in fact increased, all of the articles had differing numbers representing the increase. The numbers that differed were the total foreclosure filings for San Diego County for the period of July 2008.

Revisiting the issue of ForeclosureS.com 5 million listings claim, Foreclosure Research discovered another discrepancy with the data provider’s listings. That issue was that the company may be using .. not so true.. listings as a type of filler, in order to boost total listing numbers.
Nevada seems to have many of these types of listings with Lyon County, Nevada being the biggest offender.

The Second quarter foreclosure reports continue to roll in with the latest figures from Realty Trac released. One general statistic released by Realty Trac, a foreclosure reporting company based out of Irvine, California, has been appearing on hundreds of newspaper articles across the country.
According to all articles and taken directly from the Realty Trac foreclosure activity report, “one in every 171 U.S. households received a foreclosure filing during the quarter.”

It is now the second week in August and the rush for July foreclosure figures have begun. All foreclosure reporting companies have released their share of data to the media. The latest comes from a press release published August 11, 2008, “ForeclosureS.com: Pre-foreclosure Filings Set Record in July.” According to the article pre-foreclosure filings hit record highs in 14 states for the month of July.
